I recommend trying something new. You might want to go back to school (it's never too late: I got my PhD at age 64)-- even if you don't want to get a degree, studying a new subject or learning how to do some new thing (ceramics, auto repair, whatever) can get you out of the house and introduce you to different people. I also recommend volunteering. Joining organizations that help people in need is a great way to keep your mind off of your own problems. Perhaps you can join a political organization, or work for a cause you believe in. And I also recommend getting some counseling. Sometimes, a person who is in a rut begins to feel depressed. A good counselor can help you plan strategies and get your life moving again. Above all, don't give up-- although it may not seem like it right now, things can and do change, especially if you make a good plan.
