Take That formed in 1990 when music manager Nigel Martin-Smith sought to create a boy band to capitalize on the popularity of the genre. He recruited Gary Barlow, who was already a talented songwriter, along with Mark Owen, Howard Donald, and Jason Orange. The group quickly gained popularity in the UK with their catchy pop songs and harmonies, leading to their first single "Do What U Like" and a series of successful albums. They became one of the leading pop acts of the 1990s before disbanding in 1996, only to reunite in 2005.
