How do you answer 'What contributions can you make to this company' in a job interview?

You simply need to lay out what your most powerful and valuable contributions are, and how they apply to this company on a personal level, financial level and business level.

The interviewer wants to know how good of an investment you are for this company.

First, you must tailor your answer to the specific job, and even to the specific company. For example, a Registered Nurse (R.N.) could make one type of contributions to a hospital, but could make equally important but different contributions to a nursing home. Both use the same or overlapping skills, but the focus may differ.

Second, the only way you can talk about how you "can contribute" (e.g. "what I can give or do for") to a job or to an employer/company is by knowing your strengths, weaknesses, skills, and future goals. Take time to list all your positive skills, and your weaknesses -- put one list on the right side of a paper and the other list on the left side. Make about 10 Xerox copies of this strengths-weaknesses list.

Third, do some homework about the company before your interview. Let's say Company A is expanding; they need workers that help them grow toward the company's goals. You should know at least 1 current goal each company has for their own future. If nothing else, search for their website and read their Mission Statement.

Fourth, no one can give you a formula for how to answer interview questions. But before you go to each interview, look at your strengths-weakness list. Pick at the most 3 different strengths you are positive you have and be prepared with an example of how you have used those strengths. Also, circle 2 "weaknesses" that you have worked on in some way and have improved--even a little. Think of how you can put each weakness into an example that shows that you are aware enough to learn from that weakness. Or, how you recognize a "weakness" is a positive.

Here is an example of what NOT to say about a weakness:

"Well, one of my weaknesses is I love to stay up late watching movies-you know the ones on Oldies4 TV Station. (laughs) It's gotten so bad, my mom has to wake me up. Yep! If mom hadn't woken me up today I would've rolled in here about noon."

A better way to present a potential weakness might be:

"I realized a few years ago that I'm very focused when I'm working with many details; I seem to work well with organizing, indexing, finding discrepancies, etc. But I know I must pull back as well to see the whole picture and not just parts of a situation. So that's what I've been practicing for the last couple years: being able to see the details without losing the details.

Although you will focus on your strengths and what you can contribute (give/ do) for the company, don't be surprised if the interviewer asks about flaws, faults, mistakes, weaknesses, and even bad behavior. If you made a mistake in another job and can show how that event taught you a positive skill, use the example, making sure to clearly tell how you are a better employee after making that mistake.

"Contributions"

Describe specific examples of how effective you have been in your other positions, change you have implemented, and goals you have achieved. Talk about the depth and breadth of related experience that you have. Think of it as how you would apply your strength and how it would apply to better the operation of the company.

Talk about your skills and how you will use them to achieve the company's goals. Talk about your competence, loyalty, and determination and how you will achieve the company's expectations.

This is a personal question for you. Don't search for an answers in any browser.... just say what you feel and make it sincere. Tell them what you can do to help the company. You should answer with whatever the company is.

For this question, I think you should speak out your strengths, for example: "I am an honest girl, I will be devoted to my company." I think any boss who hears this will be happy.

I think you should be your real self rather than forming what you are not. Tell them what you can give to your company not what you can get from your company.

The best thing to do in a job interview is walk and talk as if you are already have the job. Proceed like you have the most confidence in the world and there is no competition because you are the best. So what can you contribute to the company? The answer is simple my knowledge, my experience, my well being and responsibility. I am the best candidate for this position if not better (confidence part) and I am ready to put my blood sweat and tears into this company (not literally but you know). If they say they what 100%.you say I am prepared to give you the full 300 plus more and that's what I can contribute to your company. Also brush up on the dictionary be inquisitive but not to the point were it is exasperating and don't be over exaggerate. Be yourself while at the same time being who they want as apart of there company. Trust me I work for the government.

Firstly, I agree with the first line in in the first answer......you speak your heart out...My added suggestions are:

first you thoroughly inquire about the organization you are applying for, check out what kind of service it provides........then try to analyze your expected position and work profile in the organization....then beforehand think about what are the qualities or experiences you have which favor the work you would be doing in the organization...then it becomes very simple for you to answer such questions.

NOTE: The more familiar you are about the organization and work, more confident you will be in answering questions.....ultimately more chances of getting a job.

The other thing you can do is say you're a hard worker and stuff like that.

The best answer to that question is, just as mentioned above. You should do some research on the company that called you for an interview. Most companies call potential candidates at least 24hour before the interview so that is enough time for you to get on the internet and read all you can about the position applied for and the overall company. one important part in which you and (everybody who goes through interviews) is to read the companies goals and "expectations" I cannot stress enough on how many individuals go unprepared into interviews, not knowing where the employer is aiming at.

If you did no have time to research about the job/company and you found your self sitting in front of the employer, firstly do not show that you are nervous, a great way to do this is to constantly smile and keep an eye contact, no matter what, and yes do use pauses the employer will only appreciate you more because you actually THINK before you speak. tell them of your qualities, and you experiences. Tell them of the things that you had accomplished, even if its small such as "improving the way people do something at your University, or such....." they are simply looking for Initiative and leadership (again depending on what the job applied for is..)

Research about employer. if no time and your are the spot , then you;

Smile and keep eye contact, take your time speaking, speak with confidence, tell them about your qualities, and tell them of SOME of you personal goals that is similar to the company, (ex: personal financial success, personal growth, etc)

they'll love you for it.

They are basically asking you what you bring to the table. Are you a self starter. Do you have specialized degree's. Do you have a skill that will help improve processes and conditions. Do you work well with a team, have you taken special classes..pretty much what you bring to the table. What sets you apart from every other applicant.

I think the best way to answer this question is to understand first the company's mission and vision.Secondly understand what they are looking for and relate this with your strengths,skills and experience. But remember never to sell yourself short even if you are not experienced enough.
