Mass is essentially a measure of the amount of matter an object contains, but more specifically: It is a measure of an object's resistance to accelerate.

Weight is a measure of the amount of force acting on an object, though it is typically associated with gravitational force.

The formula, F = M * A (Force = Mass * Acceleration) relates all three quantities.

An object contains a certain amount of matter, and the more matter it has, the more difficult it is to accelerate the object. This mass is typically measured in grams or kilograms, and it is found by finding the weight of on an object and dividing it by the acceleration (Usually that is gravitational acceleration).

Note that Mass and Weight are NOT the same thing. Weight, in our perspective here on earth, is the acceleration of gravity (9.81 meters per second) times the amount of mass we contain. Therefore, a person with 10 kilograms of mass weighs 98.1 Newtons on earth. If that same person were to be on the moon, their mass would remain the same, as no matter has left them; however, their weight would be smaller because the acceleration of gravity is only 1.62 meters per second on the moon.

As an object's mass increases, it's weight increases as well. However, as an object's weight increases, it does not necessarily mean that its mass is increasing as well, for the magnitude of gravity's acceleration may just be getting larger, but the object may not be gaining any more matter.

In a nutshell: Weight is the measure of the force on an object depending on the mass of said object and the gravity which acts upon it. Mass is the resistance of an object to accelerate, depending on the amount of matter it contains.

How is the mass and the weight of an object related?

The weight = mass x acceleration

What is the difference between mass and weight and how are they related to each other?

Mass is the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force of gravity acting on that object. Mass is a measure of inertia, while weight is a measure of the gravitational pull on an object. They are related because weight is dependent on mass and the strength of gravity. The formula to calculate weight is weight mass x gravity.

An objects weight is directly related to its?

mass. Weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity, and it is directly proportional to an object's mass. This means that the weight of an object increases as its mass increases.

What is the relationship between mass and weight?

Mass and weight are related but not the same. Mass is the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force of gravity acting on that object. Weight is dependent on mass and the acceleration due to gravity.

How are mass and second related?

Balance, second and mass arent all directly related, balance, as maybe in a weight balance and mass, both due with volume weight, etc. Hope this helped !

How are grams and mass related?

Mass can be expressed in grams and other weight units.

What relationship does mass weight and gravity have?

Mass and weight are related through gravity. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force of gravity acting on that object. Weight is directly proportional to mass and the acceleration due to gravity.

How are gravity and wieght related?

they are realetd because weight is mass and gravity is also mass

How is the object related to its mass?

The mass of an object is a measure of the amount of matter it contains. The object's mass determines its weight (force of gravity acting on it) and influences its inertia (resistance to changes in motion). The relationship between an object's mass and its weight is given by the equation: weight = mass x gravity.

Is weight of a body is a measure of inertia?

No, the weight of a body is a measure of the force of gravity acting on that body. Inertia, on the other hand, is the tendency of an object to resist a change in its state of motion. While weight depends on the force of gravity, inertia depends on the mass of the object.

What is your weight if you know your mass?

Mas is the amount of matter. Weight though related depends on the gravitation al field you are in. Mass will not change. Weight will. For instance if you travel to the moon you will weigh less but your mass will be the same.
