In an electrodynamometer, torque is produced due to the interaction between the magnetic fields generated by the current-carrying conductors and the fixed magnetic field of the permanent magnet. This interaction results in a force that acts in one direction, creating unidirectional torque. The design of the instrument ensures that the torque direction remains consistent, allowing for accurate measurement of AC and DC currents. As a result, the electrodynamometer effectively converts electrical energy into mechanical movement in a single, defined direction.

What is Faraday law of a DC generator?

Faraday's law : If a "conductor" is placed in a "magnetic field" the movement in either conductor or field produces an induced emf in the conductor. In generator the produced torque will be in AC(alternating current) so commutator or slip rings is used to produce unidirectional torque required for production of Direct Current. Basically by Faraday law the produced torque will be always bidirectional, for alternator the bidirectional torque can be used directly. for DC generator the unidirectional torque is needed to produce Direct Current.

How does a electrodynamometer work as a voltmeter?

An electrodynamometer can work as a voltmeter by judging the wavelength and force of the electricity, much the same at the voltmeter, then converting it to a force that is more recognizable.

Explain Working principle of electrodynamometer type of instrument?

The working principle of a basic electrodynamometer instrument is same as the PMMC instrument. The only difference in this case is that the permanent magnet is replaced with two fixed coils connected in series. The moving coil is also connected in series with the fixed coils. The two fixed coils are connected to electromagnets in such a manner that they form poles of opposite polarity. As the moving coil carries current through it and is being placed in the field of fixed coils, it experience a force due to which the moving coil rotates. The direction of this force is independent of the supply voltage as the current flowing through fixed coils and moving coil is one and the same. If the direction of current changes in the moving coil, then the field direction also changes, thus making the torque unidirectional.

Is moment produced by torque?

Yes, moment is produced by torque. Torque is the measure of the force that can cause an object to rotate around an axis, while moment refers to the rotational effect of that force on an object. In essence, torque creates a moment that causes an object to rotate.
