The usual answer is 3-5years....but this depends on the trainees background.

Assuming a strong motivation to become a flavorist and a BSc level chemistry/biochemistry/Biology background then it should take about 3 years of training for the individual be handling straightforward creation projects as a junior flavorist under the supervision of a senior flavorist.
