It depends on you education level, diocese/religious order, and age. Most dioceses in the U.S. will require the following: If you already have a B.A./B.S. Then it is generally 2 years of undergraduate philosophy, four years of graduate level theology and many diocese require a propaedeutic year and/or internship. If you do not have an undergraduate degree then it is generally four years of philosophy, four years of theology and possibly a propaedeutic and/or internship year. If you want to join a religious order, like the Jesuits, it can take as long as twelve years. A man who is older may have a shorter period at the discretion of his bishop or superior. So, it really depends on a myriad of factors and you should consult the vocations director of the diocese or religious order you are interested in to know exactly.
