you have to get over 50% of the exam correct to gain a c and that is half the marks :)

The maximum grade for foundation science is only a C. But, normally if you do really well in your first foundation science exam you can get your teacher to change you to the higher level paper where you can get an A*. - That is what I am aiming to do.

It completely depends on the difficulty level of the paper, to secure a c, I would say you want about 40% or 50% of the paper but it varies.
any one can conform it if any one have got a grce marks in any paper then 40 % of marks rule are applicable for 1 paper remaining in degree in p.t.u for b.tech student.
The cut off marks in IITs depends on the paper in that year. Normally it is around 40% of the total marks.
