It depends on a few things...

Most of the time if you are already employed you will get paid to take the course.

It also depends on what certification you are obtaining. Is it from the Red Cross? The YMCA of the USA? Typically it is around $100-150.

Sometimes training is completely free. You can be trained by a voluntary organization which does not ask for training payments, only that the trained lifeguard be available for work after training. Some lifeguard clubs might offer membership for a small fee - $15 per month. Some other associations offer low cost CPR lessons which help a lifeguard to join a lifeguard association which will then train the aspiring for free. The CPR lessons may cost up to $150 dollars for 1-2 days of training.
