It's not enough to drive golden Bentleys, but it will typically afford you a very comfortable living; how comfortable all depends on where you are. California, middle class; midwest, demi-god.

Again a subjective tilt, but it does matter for your locale; good living costs less one place versus another. What do your neighbors make?

BUT since you are asking basically an opinion, I would say for the most part, in most places, yes, 80K is a good living.
