This depends upon what definition of "kid" you want to use. Legally, every individual in the United States who is under the age of 18 is a "kid"/child/minor except for some 17 year olds that are declared emancipated minors. As far as advertising goes, 10-12 is considered a "tween" (which I believe is shortened for "in between" the pink/frilly/princess stage and the teen stage when tastes start to diverge significantly). Most parents would consider a 12 year old still a "kid" in that they are not responsible or mature enough to be left home alone.
