Chiropractic is a triune of science, philosophy and art:
The science revolves around the biomechanics of the human nervous system, muscular system and skeletal system. Also, how these systems interact and how dysfuntion in any of these systems can cause disease.
The philosophy is based on the belief that the body has a natural (or innate) ability to heal itself. It is also based on the value of a natural and conservative approach to healing, where drugs and surgery are considered a last resort.
The art is the application of the science and philosophy in providing the best possible care to each individual patient.

After any person's name "MS" generally means Master of Science. This implies that in addition to the doctor of chiropractic (DC) degree, that the chiropractic physician also obtained a Master's degree.
Once in university or college, the courses you choose to take will (and should) reflect the career you are aiming for. If chiropractic is that choice, a bachelor of science is the best option. Take courses in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology and you will be well prepared for chiropractic college. Students with other undergraduate degrees (eg: Bachelor of arts) are also eligible for chiropractic college, but will find it more challenging without significant background in any of the sciences. Before a student can attend a chiropractic college he/she must complete at least 3 years of an undergraduate university degree (eg: bachelor of science). Most students at chiropractic colleges have completed their undergraduate degree.
In part, this would depend on what prerequisites are required by the chiropractic college you are hoping to attend. At the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College there are no strict prerequisites except that you must have completed at least 3-years of an undergraduate university education. No matter what school you attend, chiropractic college includes extensive training in all of the basic and applied sciences during the first two years, including cell biology and histology, biochemistry, anatomy, microbiology, immunology, physiology, pathology, epidemiology, exercise science, neuroscience, psychology, nutrition, etc., so the more science courses you can take before chiropractic college the better off you will be. Students with minimal science background have to work MUCH harder to keep up with their studies. If you end up choosing not to pursue a chiropractic education, an extensive science background will give you lots of additional options such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, law, etc. In other words, it never hurts to take alot of science courses in college (or university).
