Well, which part of CRST did you have in mind? I'm currently driving for a small fleet owner who leases his trucks to CRST Malone, which is the 100% owner/operator and small fleet flatbed company, and we seem to be doing alright here. I couldn't really tell you much about the Van Expedited division, except that they run teams primarily, and, if a team driver has to run solo for a bit, they kinda get screwed on their per mile pay.
Excelsior Company is a good company to work for, and has good prospects for growth.
There are plenty of trucking jobs available in your area, CRST and J.B. Hunt are both good companies to work for and are both hiring.
A good job will pay you a fair wage for a day's work.
As far as I can tell AJC is a great company to work. They work hard at informing the public about other businesses and jobs. Its a good company that serves the public.
Assuming you're talking about leasing a power unit on with a company, it depends on the company. Companies which have a large company fleet tend to favor lease operators, and will require more recent equipment if they lease on owner/operators, whereas companies which are entirely O/O can be a bit more lenient. I knew a guy who leased onto CRST Malone with a 1977 Kenworth.
