Depends on what that amount is for and where you are. It's a lot to pay for insurance, but not that much to receive as a full-time salary. (For each you also have to consider what types of insurance and salaries for what professions.) Different regions in the United Kingdom have different pay scales and standards of living. It might be a lot more in, say, in rural Wales than say London.
