James 1 had many stengths and weaknesses during his reign in Britain.

He possed strengths such as good intelligence, a wise judger and possesd a very retentive memory which meant he was able to retain knowledge or information with ease.

But Jame's faults were only too apparent, but they shouldnt undermine his considerable achievments he did such as keeping his country at peace for more then 20 years. His major downfall was his manners. When he spoke, ate, in his converstaions in the presence of women, his manners where crude and poor.

Some believe James strengths could outweigh his weaknesses and vice-versa. For example, did James' poor manners affect his ability to rule? Did his poor hygiene affect the views people had on him and the popularity he had?

These things are important for Historians to think about. Overall, he was a wise man, but lacking in manners where his major fault.
