I had a summer-job at a cotton mill some 40 years ago. Most of the jobs at that time involved manual labor that would be common to any plant. Most jobs involved keeping the machinery running and keeping them clean. There were fork lift operators to move the bales of cotton and lint. During plant shut-down, the workers disassembled the belts and motors and made repairs. Today, cotton mills may be more computerized and use high-tech machinery to run the operation.
