1. Eliminate bias by eliminating the problem: keep the workplace segregated. Separate but equal equals success.

2. Women in the workplace- Women should be encouraged to do things at work that make them feel as if they are at home. If they are allowed to do the usual things they enjoy doing at home (i.e. cooking, cleaning, etc), then they will feel much more comfortable and will increase their productivity.

3. Research has shown that using an office pet or mascot can build camaraderie. Perhaps choose something off-beat or quirky like a stray dog or a domesticated squirrel to help separate your work environment from any place else.

4. Kids rule- Encourage your employees to post pictures of their kids in bathing suits all over the office. Children are the soft spots in many people's hearts and images of them all wet with laughter will lighten up they day. Get creative with the spots where you post them. Employee's will love playing an "I Spy" game of where they can find their kids pictures. PS- Keep it interesting. Try taking a fellow coworkers kid's picture and moving it around on them, like placing it on the bathroom stall doors or on the sole of your shoes.

How should discrimination in the workplace be dealt with?

Some would claim that it should be left entirely alone unless it is illegal discrimination. Most workplace discrimination is lawful or required. If there is strong evidence of race, sex, religious, age or disability discrimination, complain internally first. The employer MUST investigate and must eliminate illegal discrimination if it is found. Retaliation is illegal. Complaining to government is slow and ineffective, useful only as a step to a lawsuit at your own expense.

How does institutional discrimination differ from individual discrimination?
