To become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, candidates must first clear the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The required subjects for the preliminary examination include General Studies, which covers a range of topics such as history, geography, polity, economy, environment, and current affairs. For the main examination, candidates must choose an optional subject from a list provided by UPSC, along with compulsory papers like Indian Language, English, Essay, and General Studies. It’s crucial to have a well-rounded understanding of various subjects to succeed in the selection process.
