In my school it's a BTEC. If it doesn't say BTEC before it, it will probably be GCSE in your school. But if it's BTEC, you will get 2 GCSE's instead of 1.

I think it really will depend upon your other qualifications. I am fairly sure the BTEC diploma is equivalent of A level. However, only relevant BTEC National Diplomas are accepted, and some universities may not accept childcare because it is not related. To check, contact the universities you are hoping to apply to. To study midwifery, you will need a minimum of 5 GCSE's at grade C or above in Maths, English and a Science. You will also need 2 A level equivalents.
