There are no special subjects, but being good at math is a plus. You do however, if you want to be ticketed, need to go through an apprenticeship course, 4 years usually , and you take tests each year or you'll need to get four years of experience and then go challenge the carpentry test. A lot of people in construction do not have a ticket.
No college is needed to become a construction worker. All you need is to get on crew and a few tools.
