What they do is read copy and make sure that it is grammatically correct, or historically correct. They are very good, paid, professional positions. They take proofreading to a whole, new level. In this position, you can work in just about any mass media markets. You can proofread for magazines, TV, books, newspapers, online blogs, etc.

You have to make sure your spelling, grammar, APA style is completely polished. Companies want excellence when they are selling or promoting things, so that is a necessity.

I know proofreaders for Harley Davidson, Briggs & Stratton, Amazon.com and they love their jobs. They just have heavy deadlines for when things get published, so being able to meet deadlines is a must, too.
