But the job will entail working with customers and their vehicles and working with coworkers.
If you are a tech your job will mainly consist of these rules which should be applied at all times when working on vehicles whether it is a personal vehicle or customer vehicle.
1) Verify customer complaint
(Make sure you understand what is wrong with the vehicle)
2) Make a personal Verification on customer complaint
(Test Drive or Diagnose the Problem yourself even if you already know what the problem might be)
3) Once you have located or pinpointed the problem proceed to Look up service literature via manufacturers manual or Computer (All Data/Mitchell)
4) *Check for previous Repair Information Performed In The Past* because the problem might pertain to a previous repair, or the previous repair might not have even been the problem to begin with.
*It does not Hurt to Look Over Parts Of The Vehicle That Are Not On The Repair Order For Damage Or In Need Of Replacement*
5) (TSB's) Check for Technical Service Bulletins ( Common Problems which keep occurring in certain Year Make Model vehicles)
6) After obtaining all of this information and you have completed these necessary steps. pinpoint the problem and make the necessary repairs.
7) After repairs are finished check back over the parts you have replaced to make sure that you have not overlooked anything whether it is something as small as a bolt or a fastener.
8) Once you have checked back over the repair site test drive the vehicle and verify your repair if the repair has no problems as in no knocking, vibration, or any type of noise or oddities bring the vehicle back to the customer.
(if there is any problem after repair bring the vehicle back in the shop and make necessary adjustments)
9) Once finished with steps 1-7 (8) notify customer that their vehicle is ready to be picked up and explain to them what the problem was and the services that you have performed. Most Importantly
!!DO NOT FORGET TO NOTIFY THE CUSTOMER ABOUT OTHER PROBLEMS THAT WERE ENCOUNTERED/ DISCOVERED!!
