A seminary in the classical meaning of the word is any educational institution of high school equivalency or higher. Thus a girls' seminary was such an education institution for girls. Nowadays, the term seminary is usually restricted to educating men for the priesthood, ministers, or rabbis.
A place where men are trained to become priests is called a "seminary". To go to the seminary, a man must be sponsored by a Diocese or a religious order.
