Cracked porcelain. All of the internal working of the tank can be easily purchased at a local hardware, of home improvement store. The replacement of these components: the fill valve, flapper, flushvalve, and lever handle can all be easily replaced with a flat head screwdriver, wrench, and a pair of channel locks. Most of the components even come with installation instructions. Gasket between the tank and the bowl can also be replaced. To rebuild and entire tank Assembly shouldn't cost more than $45 , so if its not cracked anywhere, and you don't want a whole new toilet, then just get new parts. I believe there is even a total component kit available so you don't have to buy all the parts separately
