Working at morrisons means a uniform will be issued to you, consisting of:

  1. Black Trousers - These are not supplied by the company and you must purchase plain straight trousers that must be ironed and kept clean
  2. Black Non-Slip Shoes - A pair of plain black shoes must also be worn. They need to be clean, non-patterned and non-slip - NO TRAINERS
  3. A Check Shirt - A short sleeved shirt with the morrisons logo will be issued. This is often baggier than needed to as you are there to work, and thus sweat which helps. The shirt also needs to be tucked into the trousers
  4. Tabard - for females a green tabard will be issued which must be worn at all times along with a necktie
  5. Apron - Men have to wear a green apron over there shirts to their knees. This has to be worn and protects the wearer but also is the most recognisable piece of uniform - ties are no longer worn, however in the past men had to wear a shirt, tie and an apron but this has now changed

Why did Morrisons close and sell all of the Safeway UK branches instead of a partnership such as Wal-Mart and ASDA?

Morrisons converted the majority of Safeway stores into Morrisons, the remainder were sold due to local competition issues to Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose etc. The Safeway brand is no longer in use in the UK, as Morrisons decided it would be better to rebrand all stores as Morrisons.
