Investment in the country is the key. We have roads, bridges, and other things that need repair or fixing and if the government would invest in these things people would have work. The idea of giving the rich tax breaks that will filter down to them putting people to work hasn't worked. They just get richer and the rest of us get poorer and nothing gets done. We need a program like what FDR started with the WPA who put people to work building infrastructure projects. We also have to realize our jobs have changed and need to think about the type of jobs we need. Coal mines are not coming back and neither is the steel industry so we need to think in new terms for new jobs in different sectors. The jobs of today are not the jobs of the 19th century America so our thinking has to change too.
