The average roof salesman is going to be paid commission based upon a certain percentage. Most companies will low-ball you and start you at 35% of the profit after any overhead is taken out. The overhead could range from $400 per job to 10% of the gross. One company I worked for actually charged even a set fee of $6 per square for the local company we were "setting" with or in other words using their name. The average income would be based upon commission of how many jobs are sold. In most hopes a salesman can attempt to get 10% of the gross job as a commission pay-out. For example, if you sell 550K worth of roofs (which sounds like alot), you could expect more than 50K in pay. Be wary of companies that have detailed contracts because they will find ways to cut your commission out of the picture as a last resort..
