YouTube's strength is that users create content for the site for free. They increase the service's overall value without any additional work at all on the part of the site's creators.

While that makes the site very popular with people who are looking to upload, share, and browse videos, it cannot control what types of videos are created and what quality. Also, YouTube places limits on videos that limit their length and possibly quality.

Sites that specialize in fewer types of videos may be more profitable. Especially if these videos are longer and of high quality. (Such as Hulu)
