What jobs can you do with an MSW?

I can answer this question only for the state of Florida, but I assume that it would apply to other states as well.

You can practice as a therapist, under the supervison of a liscenced practishoner. Once you have an LCSW, then you can practice as a therapist without supervision and can even go into private practice.

You can work in the school system as a school system. The pay is typically the same as it is for a teacher, with a small bonus (2,500 ish in Orlando, FL) added for having a masters. This is a nice job that is typically hard to come by.

You can teach at the college level, although they usually prefer an LCSW or a Ph.D./DSW.

With an LCSW, you can join the army or airforce. To my understanding, you enter in as a Captain and move up from there.

Of course you can always work as a case worker, but that is not making full use of your degree. Similarly, you can work as a Child Protective Investigator. In some counties, the CPI is an officer working for the Sherif.

I am sure there are more options, but this is all that comes to mind.

Also, you can work in gerontology, substance abuse, hospitals, prisons, domestic violence, homeless services, and mental health, not only counseling clients but also supervising BSW's and other staff.
