What kind of qualifications is needed for welders?

There are formal qualifications for welding. There is actually quite a mass amount of information and techniques to learn.

In New Zealand, our city's paper has had advertisements for cheap short term welding courses since as far back as i can remember.

When i did my electrical certificate we had a short introduction to welding as a side topic and it's not as simple as it looks. Although, with guidance it IS quite easy to learn.

You need several hings to be a welder. First is the willingness to learn how to weld. You will also need a fairly steady hand and a good pair of eyes. Other than that you don't need much else except a chance to show an employer what you can do and practice.
