Systems Analyst is a pretty wide job description, the skills you need will depend on what you mean by "Systems". In the wider terms this would be someone who analysed an IT system or a software program or software programs associated with a business system. That role would be to maintain and improve the software.

The basic skills I look for in new technicians is: enthusiasm, basic problem solving, an ability to visualise a situation and a creative mind. You would obviously need some academic qualifications in order to qualify for the interview. Prior work experience is also very desirable. If you fancy getting into software engineering then you also need a familiarity with programming and an awareness of new the technologies your potential employer might be looking at using.
