What skills do you think need inprovement?

When you are asked to describe your strongest skills, this is your time to boast about what is great about you. While you want to be honest, you should play down the skills that need improving. Make them things that will not make you look like a poor employee.

While most candidates are going to list general skills such as strong communications skills and leadership ability, you will stand out if you can also give examples. Highlight one or two skills and use job-related examples to show how you put these skills in action.

For strongest skills find those that you have that are related to the requirements for the job. You can easily check this by looking at the job advert or the person specification

On improvement areas identify something the employer might see as a strength or something they would not consider too damaging. So things like

• get frustrated with people who don't do what they promise
• perfectionist so I will work on things to the last minute to get them right
• like to get things done so can work too long hous

When you answer say that sometimes you show this weakness (ie not a permanent feature) and that it is something you are aware of
