A driving instructor gets paid from the driving school, and you have to be part of a driving school to teach driving in Ontario. usually the school gets from 300-800 per student to teach 25 hours classroom and 10 hours in car. if you are the in class guy you get payed depending on how many students you have per class, the in car guys get payed about $150-200 per student for the 10 hours. Its the after 10 hour cost that is negotiated with the student. if the student isn't ready for the test, then you can charge whatever the market will bear. Also if you have a specialty such as you are the only Chinese speaking driving instructor in a high demand area for Chinese speaking instructors, you can demand more for your services. Also driving Instructors make money renting their car for road tests, usually $75-100 dollars per test, if you have 4 student use your car in one day.......... also you could be hired as a corporate or municipal driving instructor, for the city to teach bus drivers or dump trucks etc. at whatever they pay for a year. Its is very subjective, if you are a good instructor with a good reputation and demand is high, then you make more.
