Termination became a euphemism for being fired when employers felt they did not want the news of being fired to hit the victim very hard. They wanted the process to sound more polite.
A euphemism for fat is "pleasingly plump". A euphemism for feeling sick is feeling "under the weather". A euphemism for being fired is being "laid off".
Canned, given the pink slip, let go.
Her mother had passed away due to her sickness. (In this sentence, "passed away" is a euphemism for died.)
Can a secretary of state get fired?
Fired or sacked
No. Termination basically just means "you had a job, now you don't." Whether you quit, were laid off, were fired, doesn't matter, they all represent termination of employment. "Fired" is usually used to mean that the termination of employment wasn't voluntary on your part. There's a strong implication that you did something wrong. HR people will be very careful to say "terminated" rather than "fired" due to this pejorative connotation.
termination means FIRED! Suspension means time off while they decide if your coming back or not.
They are asking you to quit so they don't have to fire you. Being fired looks bad in future job searches so they are trying to be kind.
yes. You can be fired for violating any laws. Most states allow the termination for drug use.
Termination in employment means no longer employed i.e. Fired or let go.
You could get in trouble for that before you were fired and certainly can if not more so after you are fired. Instead of just getting fired for that now you could face criminal or civil charges.
Amex always says that each situation is different, and you can reapply. I know a woman fired and rehired within one year in CTN. One of managers even told me to have a woman fired reapply. Be sure you want to go back. My own wrongful termination is about to come out in court.
