Kiran Bedi is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, not an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. She joined the IPS in 1972 and became the first woman to do so. Bedi is known for her significant contributions to policing and social reform, but she does not hold a rank within the IAS.
