Why are Students not fond of Reading Books?

Well, some of them have a hard time with reading, and if you are struggling to understand, then books aren't very enjoyable. Others... I don't know. My dad can read realy well, but he doesn't enjoy it. That is completely strange to me, because I can't get enough.

Well i have a couple of theories. For instance , the "dislike" of reading descends from the way the parents raised the person. For example , if they loved to watch television all the time , well there is a large probability , that the child will also want to watch television all the time. Another suggestion is , that most people , with a dislike of reading , connect that with "school" , in which they were mostly "forced" to read a book. And i would believe that for most people , school wasn't all "ponys and rainbows".

Students have learned, from a very young age, that most books offered in elementary school are not authentic. In other words, they are reading a type of series that has stories that are not interesting. Some schools have adopted the Whole Language learning strategy, and they are starting to see an improvement in students reading for pleasure.

As a teen, I can answer this question with first-hand knowledge. Teens do read, just not as often as we used to when we were younger. Teens also are scared to be seen sometimes reading a certain book because teens WILL judge you if you aren't reading what you should be in that grade. And many teens prefer reading magazines over books. And we're BUSIER! I will admit that we do read less than expected, but it's not that we "don't read."
