Times are indeed changing. As we see in the news, people in record numbers looking at self employment as a way going forward. With all that has been happening in the current times with the demic, one thing is clear, depending on one source of income (job) is dangerous to financial health.
Starting a business without a blueprint can be hard. Starting from scratch is hard work and kind of shooting in the dark. A lot of research needs to be undertaken to understand if there are paying customers for a product or service that you plan to offer.

Being in business is not for yourself, not for personal gains. Every successful entrepreneur out there is focussed on solving problems. Customers have problems and businessmen are solving those problems. I can quote an example here. When the world was hit with the global virus, many manufacturing institutions had to shut down because they were not essential. There was temporary shortage of many essential products. There was this one dog biscuit manufacturing industry. They immediately turned around and started producing speciality breads. They remained in the essential services category and became extremely profitable after that.
But, starting traditional businesses required tremendous amount of capital in most cases. Getting started with a business idea in the digital space can be extremely rewarding.
