Depends on who you are in America. If you are a white, conservative, wealthy American then the criminal justice system is doing an excellent job. The majority of the laws are created by these types of persons. If you are a poor miinority with unpopular points of view, then the criminal justice system will systematically exploit, oppress, and manipulate you. These types of persons are usually not involved in, or privy to, the creation of laws. Although the equality of the criminal justice has improved, powerful entities in society are constantly becoming better at discriminating and/or oppressing through legal means.

The criminal justice system sometimes uses charges of child abuse to punish these mothers. The juvenile advocacy system often removes the children from the care/custody of these mothers.
