The idea of headlights is two-fold:
* to see where you are going at night * and to be "seen" at night If your headlights are blacked out, how on earth will you be able to light your way at night or be seen by oncoming traffic? Headlamps must emit a certain candlepower in order to be street legal at night. It may not be "cool" looking to have clear lenses, but there is a safety factor that greatly outweighs "being cool". The life you save might just be your own.
Headlight blackout kits are illegal in some places because of safety concerns. An installed kit can cause headlights to function improperly leading to poor visibility.
