It took some serious digging to get an answer to this. I read both the Motor Vehicle Act and the Motor Standards Act, but to no avail.
I finally got a clear statement on an 'ask a cop' forum on the Saantich Police Department Website. Saanitch is in BC.... http://www.saanichpolice.ca/general/guest/gbook.php?page=2
It looks like you DO NOT NEED turn signals on a motorcycle in BC. But you have to use hand signals using your left arm only.
I just bought an old-skool cafe racer that doesn't have any signals. I'm going to put some on but I'd like to drive it right now.....
So there...no signals needed.
Required by law (motorcycles manufactured before 1973 are not required to be equipped with turn signals.)
If you don't have turn signal lights then you must use hand signals.
You don't need any lights in Guam!
I was just researching this myself, and according to the AMA, the answer is "no" turn signals are not required on a motorcycle in Florida. See the following link: http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/laws/result.asp?state=fl
Yes, in Mississippi, motorcycles are required to have turn signals. However, if the motorcycle is manufactured before 1973, it is not mandatory to have them, but riders must still use hand signals for turns and lane changes. It's important for safety and legal compliance to ensure that all motorcycles, regardless of age, are equipped with functional turn signals when applicable.
No, but you will need to use hand signals.
