It depends on which state you live in, some states may allow this. As stated in The Family Law Handbook for Washington, "In Washington, adults decide where the children will live. A court may consider a child's wishes only if the child is old enough and mature enough. There is no magic age for a child to be mature enough to state his or her choice. Generally, courts do not want children to be involved in making these decisions." Person Matters You could disguss about where you wanna live. No. If there is a valid concern, the grandparents can file a child in need of care motion. At the hearing, the judge can choose to interview the child on the choice and the reasons behind it. Often, a child expresses a desire to live with grandparents. I very much remember that point in 1969.

No, you can not choose until you are 18. If your parent wants custody he/she has to go to court and modify the court order. The court will decide if your parent is fit to take care of you.
