The age of consent in New Jersey is 16 (so you can have sex and your partner would not be accused of corrupting you, etc.), but you are still considered a minor up to 18 years old and have to live with your parents/guardians until then. Your parents could call the police, and have you returned home as a runaway. You also have to get a consent of both your parents if you wish to marry before 18.

You can try to get emancipated, if you answer to the necessary conditions, but that will mean going to the court. If the situation is not critical, it's easier to wait a few months and move out later.
