a felon, I believe, cannot own a gun, regardless of their sentence. You can call your state representative to check, but I'm pretty sure, because they do background checks. I think they disregard midemenors, but felonies, i think they wouldn't let you own a gun.
ADDED: Regardless of the length of the sentence you received - it is the offense you were convicted of which counts. If you were convicted of a felony crime, you cannot possess a firearm of any type (exept certain specified antiques).
It depends entirely on what you were charged with - NOT - what sentence the judge imposed. If the statute written by the legislature calls for a sentence of MORE THAN one year it is, by definition, a felony. The judge, at his discretion, can sentence persons convicted of felony-class crimes to serve less than the minimum sentence, however, the offender remains a convicted felon nonetheless.
Felonies are more than one year sentence in prison. Have you been to prison? If so you are a felon. Town, city, village or county jail is usually for misdemeanors.
Not less than one year nor more than ten years
It depends on the original sentence. If the original sentence was greater than one year and one day, your will serve your time in a state penitentiary. If the sentence was less than one year, you may serve it in a county jail, but the judge could mandate prison.
less than a year
The main difference between a jail and a prison is the length of stay. Jail is mostly for inmates that a serving less than one year and prison is for inmates that are sentenced for more than one year. This is not a hard line, but it is a good rule of thumb. Most felonies will get you a sentence that is more than one year and most misdemeanors will get you a sentence that is less than one year.
A less serious crime that can result in less than a year in prison is a misdemeanor, such as petty theft or simple assault. These offenses typically carry penalties that include fines, community service, or a short jail sentence, often less than 12 months. The specific consequences can vary by jurisdiction, but they are generally considered less severe than felony offenses.
Depends upon the jurisdiction and the felony. I know of none that are less than one year.Added; The definition of a felony offense is that the statute calls for punishment of not less than one year in prison.
less than a year
In the UK, for people sentenced to less than 4 years are released after serving half their sentence. Some may be released earler.
(in the US) I have never heard of a liquor license being issued to a convicted felon.
Not usually. Expressions for decades may be numerals or words (80s, Eighties) A value for a period of years would follow the relevant guide for other numbers, writing out short numbers and those less than 20 or less than 100.
