At your local law enforcement agency you can check and get a copy of your own criminal history background (or get a certificate stating that there is none), however, I don't believe that this a free service anywhere, anymore. There is probably a nominally small administrative charge associated with the clerical and administrative time necessary to to run the check and print the findings.
