I am a convicted felon and recently traveled out of the country with no problem. I am no longer on probation though. I am rather sure if you are on probation, you must obtain permission from your probation officer.

Added: If you have completed your sentence and/or you are released on parole with no travel restrictions, you may apply for a passport and travel outside of the country. CAUTION: Not all nations will grant persons convicted of certain crimes permission to enter their country.

Can ex inmates leave the country?

Unless you attempted to commit or committed treason, you should have some chance of being able to receive a US passport. The type of felony conviction influences your chances of receiving a passport, as does your current status regarding the felony. If you are still on probation, or on parole, then you will most likely not be allowed leave the country without prior approval.

Can you leave Virginia with a felony charge pending?

It depends on several factors. . . which are not disclosed by the question. If you are charged with a felony offense you undoubtedly have an attorney or a public defender - ask THEM. Has the court released you on bail or bond? If so, you probably DO have a travel restriction placed on you by the court. Check the papers you were given at the time of your release or contact the court and ask. Also - if your bond is posted by a bailbondsman don't go on any unexpected trips without telling the bail agent or they WILL come looking for you.

Domestic violence misdemeanor or felony?

It varies from municipality to municipality, state to state, country to country. For example, I am a victim of domestic abuse. I finally got up the courage to leave the relationship and press charges. In the past, he was charged with two counts of Domestic Assault in the 2nd degree, which were Class A Misdemeanors. Because he is a repeating offender, his new 2nd degree assault charge is an automatic Class C felony. He's also facing two counts of domestic assault in the third degree, and because he's a first time third-degree offender, they are class A misdemeanors. However, he violated an order of protection I have against him, and is also being charged with a stalking charge. The stalking charge would normally be a misdemeanor, but since it's violating an order of protection in which there are pending domestic assault cases, it's an automatic class D felony. However, this is all law based on where I live. The best resource for you to contact would be the circuit attorney where your case is/should be filed.

Can you leave Virginia with a misdemeanor charge pending trial?

If you are released on personal recognizance or on bond, check the court order that released you. You may, and probably do, have travel restrictions. If you are released on bond posted by a bailbondsman I would not attempt to leave the state. They particularly don't like to think that anyone is 'skipping' on them.
