Those protected classes include race, color, age, national origin, disability, reprisal, sex, and in some cases familial status. The employee must prove they were discriminated against when they were treated differently because of their status in one of those protected classes.

That's very nice EXCEPT that wasn't the name of it. It was the Equal Opportunity Act of 1972...period. While it created the EEOC, the word Employment was NOT in its title!

The EEOC was created in the 1964 Civil Right Act. The 1972 Act gave it authority to sue employers.
