Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using ordinary members of the public as judges in magistrates court?

If you are referring to a "Magistrates court" as a low level official that rules on things like police tickets, etc., then that magistrate is basically following the simple guidelines of the law, like x number of dollars for speeding ticket, etc. There is no advantage to the public being involved. If, however, you are discussing the courtroom experience in general, then the ordinary members of the public do have the opportunity to be judges. They call it a JURY!
