It all depends on if you live in a community with an HOA. If you do have a Homeowner's Association, you will have to submit plans for your fence to make sure it's approved. Also, some communities have rules on the types of fences allowed... wood vs cyclone for example. Before you put up any fence, you need to contact your city hall first. You would hate to spend all that money, just to get fined for it..... or worse... have to take it down.
generally speaking, yes if it's on the separating line between you and your neighbors, definitely yes
You may not need your neighbor's permission, but in many communities the erection of fences, walls, and other structures are sometimes regulated by local ordnance.
If the fence is their property, and not yours; you would need their consent to make any modification to it.
I need a fence built around my garden to keep the animals out. What credentials or legal work do I need to know when hiring fence contractors?
As big as it needs to be. People build whatever size fence they need in order to protect the property.
If the plants are on your property they may be planted along your neighbors fence. However, climbing plants that will grow over the fence cannot be planted along your neighbors fence. Caveat: Make sure your neighbor has not installed the fence "inside" their property line so it lies a short distance FROM the property line. That is the practice in some areas and is required by the city ordinances in some areas. In that case, the land along the fence would belong to your neighbor. You need to determine where the property line is located and not assume the fence is on the property line.
Yes
no.
There are many types of planning permission one must get to build their own home. To build their own home, one must receive permission from the chief planning officer.
Generally no unless the piece will still remain within your property line, and even so a protruding piece of wood could be a hazard that you could be liable for. If it's a matter of the fence no longer being stable, you are responsible for your fence and if you can't stabilize it from your side of the property, you have a choice to ask your neighbor if it would be ok to stabilize it from their side, or to have it fixed so it doesn't need support, or take it down. One of the best ways of getting it fixed without paying 100% is if your neighbor likes having a fence you can say you'll have to take it down...unless they're willing to assist you --- but beware winding owning the fence with your neighbor -- the whole point of a fence is usually to keep you and your neighbor at a "friendly" distance.
