The second generation of Indochinese immigrants refers to the children of the immigrants who were born in the new country, while the first generation refers to the immigrants themselves who moved to a new country. The second generation typically has a stronger connection to the new country's culture and language, while the first generation may still hold on to aspects of their native culture.

it depends in what culture you are in. some cultures hold parents words more in consideration more then others due to culture. For example most westernized cultures consider that racist (exception immigrants and children of immigrants), even though some household in westernized countries do do that(plus parents opnions hold less weight in their childrens decision in who they should marry). In countries in Africa, Asia or middle east, it wouldn't be consitered racist because culturally it's not preached or acceptable to marry someone of another race, culture, religion in majority of families in those countries( plus parents opinions are held in more regaurd in who their children marry). So it depends, it's racist if you do it because you hate other races but if it's for cultural reasons then it's not racist.
The cargo area where immigrants traveled is commonly referred to as the "hold" of the ship. This area was typically cramped and uncomfortable, as it was designed for transporting goods rather than people. Many immigrants endured harsh conditions during their journey, facing overcrowding, limited access to food and water, and unsanitary circumstances. The hold symbolizes the difficult and often perilous experiences faced by many immigrants seeking a better life.
