Where to file the 1096 forms for california
File copy A, the red copy, with form 1096.
I was wondering the same question. I just called the SC DOR for my location which is in Columbia, SC. You do not have to file your 1099 copies with the State of South Carolina as long as there was NO state tax with held.
NO - You are only required to send in a 1096 if you HAVE 1099's to send in with it
Yes, you file a photocopy of the signed 1096 and copy C of the 1099s to the State of NJ. Address: St of NJ Div of Taxation, Revenue Processing Ctr, Gross Income Tax, PO Box 248, Trenton, NJ 08646-0248. This is the EMPLOYER'S responsibility.

A tax-exempt organization must file Form 1096, Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns, to transmit Copy A of Forms 1099, 1098, 5498, and W-2G to the IRS. The tax-exempt organization must file Form 1096 by the due date specified in the instructions.
Form 1096 from the IRS is for reporting the totals of the information returns that you are mailing to the IRS. The majority of those whole fill out paper forms for income reporting must file a 1096.

Yes. The Colorado state tax code relies upon the IRS's definition of marriage and, therefore, the Colorado Department of Revenue has ruled that a legally married same-sex couple legally married that lives in Colorado may jointly file their state income tax return as "married" (either jointly or separately).
